Wednesday, September 24

  • Collaborative Research Project introduced
  • Development of Research Questions: Timemapper introduced
  • Read Anthony Grafton, Cartographies of Time

Friday, September 26

  • Contextual Research
  • Start compiling data to be submitted through the Google form questionnaire (either in a spreadsheet form or as a Word document with the following categories to match those in the Google form questionnaire)
    • Title; Start date; End date; Description; Web page; media; media caption; media credit; tags; place; location (coordinates)

Monday, September 29

  • Collaborative Research Project (Knowledge base)
  • Historical context–macro level

Wednesday, October 1

  • Introduction of Timeglider
  • History on a microlevel–Work on Timemapper/ Timeglider project

Friday, October 3

  • Collaborate in class on revising the Powell Diary transcription in a Google Doc. Each student imports their excerpt into the master document, and then we work together to smooth the transcription – where important maintaining original variant spellings (and creating a list of those spellings to see if we can begin to keep track of them) while ensuring that individual attempts to transcribe the same word are brought in line. By end of class we should have a coherent revised transcription from which we will work.
  • Research Assignment and Blog Post #3 due: TimeMapper/Timeglider artifact and Blog Post  (10/5 – 11pm)
