There are many different options for where to put a list of chronological events. It makes more sense to use a time line than anything else. TimeGlider works unbelievably well
when there are many dates and times to include per post. With TimeGlider, one can edit the posts to highlight themes to differentiate them from the others. This can be extremely helpful when trying to see trends in certain happenings. If there are not as many dates, then TimeMapper might be even better than TimeGlider. If there are places to plot, TimeMapper takes the cake. TimeMapper gives a very visual look and can show the movement and progression in the work. How the work is written depicts what time line the user should choose. Chronology is vital when describing history because
it shows how the advancement happened and what significant information appeared where, which helps the reader understand the progression in civilization. Both of these are better than a standard time line because they add another element that is shown very easily when digitalized: pictures. Images are able to be displayed and attached to certain events. Both of these are about equally as easy to use and navigate, with little nuances that differentiate them apart from each other. Both ways show history very visually but they show them in different ways that can make the difference to portray the events of a certain work, which makes Grafton’s quote prove true. Both are great ways to show the progression of events, one with maps, one with colorful trends and themes with specific times.
Also, the differences are represented well in John Edler’s posts in TimeGlider: Austrian Succession and Afghan Monarchy compared to John Edler’s TimeMapper: Powell Diary Page 3.

I agree with you John in the sense that Timemapper helps one visualize events in history very easily and pictures are very important when it comes to fully grasping a historical event. However, I disagree with you when you say Timeglider is helpful. I think that it is confusing and it is difficult to input information. All of the events are somewhat similar, at least when we did the Powell Diary, and for me I would have rather used Timemapper.
